When the Turkish diplomats were shot in America, she was the only one who felt as if the bullets had stuck her heart… She was thinking when all our foreign affairs remained silent and insisting on their silence, she was thinking what to do and what could be done?
The Turkish government was not doing anything. But what should be done as individuals?
“One day, she called me,” says journalist and writer Ergun Göze. “She had found what to do and she had already started working. It was important to tell the story for the public opinion of Americans from a woman and a mother’s perspective. She put herself into the shoes of the mother whose son, Bahadir Demir was shot and killed. “If I were a person full of revenge like the Armenian who killed my son, I would take a gun and shoot him too. And your juries would let me go. But I am Turkish and I am a muslim. There is no room for revenge in my religion, there is justice.”
The quest for the truth on the Turkey’s Armenian Question took its foundation and was written by a lady and a mother in the 70s when the first Turkish diplomats were killed in America. Sâmiha Ayverdi; presented the case with the pen and pure faith to her audience. Her writings displayed sensitivity of patriotic heart that had bullets that killed the innocents stuck into it.
Upon this start, together with the journalist and writer Ergun Göze, she hurried to the house of Neşide Demir, mother of the marthyr diplomat Bahadır Demir.
In response to the Armenian Diasapora and lobby in the USA operating against Turkey, her book provided evidence and historical facts from reliable sources to the world public at large the real story behind the Armenian propoganda.
She becomes the voice of Turks in font of world public as if she wanted to say; “Listen, here is what we have got to say!” and writes her book based upon facts to counteract countries which were supporting the Armneian agenda. This book writtien bu Samiha Ayverdi provides an alternative and realistic perspective on the Armenian question which is often neglected by the West. It is important to recognize this book as a work of supreme effort.
It is important to keep an open mind and balance the views of Armenian claims derived from what is fact and what is fiction. Indeed the recognition of Armenian claims by nations are motivated by political agenda who work against the state of Turkey.
Deceased journalist and writer Ergun Göze mentions in his article dated 11. 04.1984; “How sensitive would American Public be for the victim’s mother?” They would definitely answer such a scream and mentions that this book had definitely been influential for America’s reaction to Armneian terrorism. And he goes on; “The government had handed this book without producing such work, years ago. I presented this book to Selçuk Bakkalbaşı who was the Press attaché in Paris. He was not much interested. He said; “We are also preparing such a book.” He did not take it seriously. Short while later, Armenians shot Bakkalbaşı in Paris. Luckily he wasn’t killed. Bakkalbaşı who was representing Turkey there, became our close friend.”
Armenian claims are disputable and lack credibility. It is our duty to present the facts from the fiction to the countries who recognize the Armenian claims and show them who is oppressed and who is oppressor so that our martyrs did not die in vain.
